Updated: May 5
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you are staying safe and enjoying the Easter break.
Over the holidays The School Administration Team and Teachers have been working on implementing the delivery of our school program for Term 2. The Prime Minister and NSW Premier announced this week that schools will remain open throughout Term 2 and will commence the process of staging the return to the classroom.
The first two weeks of Term 2 at Waroonga Adventist School will begin with our online learning platform for both students who are working remotely and on campus.
To assist us in our planning, please indicate via the link below whether your child will be accessing the online learning platform remotely or on campus. Please complete one form per child.
In order to keep our students safe we will continue with the following measures for Term 2:
Restricting parents and visitors from accessing the school campus
Students will need to be dropped off and picked up from the basement
Provide supervision in the kiss and drop zone from 8am – 8:40am and at pick up time from 2:50pm till 3:30pm
OOSH Care will continue to be available
Cleaning of all equipment and surfaces inside and outside the classroom
Encouraging regular handwashing
Encouraging Social Distancing
If your child is learning remotely, we ask that they comply with the social distancing rules and keep away from other community members. We also recommend students limit the amount of screen time over the coming weeks by getting outdoors to exercise, grab fresh air which will assist with your child’s wellbeing.
At this stage, we are awaiting further details from the NSW Government that will assist us with the planning for students to return to face to face learning from Week 3 (May 11). We will communicate details with you in due course.
If your child will be learning remotely during the next two weeks, Teachers from the below classes have prepared book packs:
Mrs Kemps 4K Reading class
Year 6T Reading
Year 6J Reading
Year 6J Extension Spelling
7.1, 7.2, 7.3 Food Tech and Textiles
Year 11 Standard English
Year 11 Modern History.
These can be collected from the basement pick up area between 10am – 12pm on Thursday 23rd April. Please follow the usual pick up protocol and we will hand over the books as you drive through.
We thank everyone for their patience and feedback during the end of last term. We have made some slight changes in the delivery of our remote learning to assist students in their first few weeks of Term 2.
Primary School (Prep to Year 6)
We will no longer be using the one-drive and one note folders. Students will be now be using Seesaw.
This will enable students to share work that they have completed and give the teachers the opportunity to provide real time feedback. Teachers will also be able to upload instructional videos and visual lessons.
Teachers will communicate the below information over the next few days:
How to download Seesaw
How to use Seesaw and access your students work
Teachers weekly overview of content and activities
Please email your Homeroom teacher if you don’t receive your login details by Friday morning.
Students will also be using Microsoft Teams as their online classroom. Teachers will place in Seesaw the times that students will need to attend the online classroom. It is mandatory for all Students to attend online lessons and wear their summer or sports school uniform.
High School (7-11)
SEQTA will continue to be the main way we communicate with students regarding their studies. Any other platforms used will be linked to or referred to in the SEQTA Online Lesson.
Students should work systematically through their coursework to ensure they engage in productive learning throughout the day. All lessons will contain homework and any documents, videos or links that are required.
Students should check SEQTA each day for their lessons.
Teams will be used for the on-line classroom platform. We have reduced the amount of time that students will be spending in the online classroom. Roll Call will be 8:30am each day (except Tuesday). Times for online classes will be posted in SEQTA. It is mandatory for all Students to attend online lessons and wear their summer or sports school uniform.
We appreciate your support and patience in this challenging time. Please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions.
We pray that all families remain safe as we go through these changing times.
